The Olivia Foundation Prize honors women artists whose work expands the possibilities of abstraction, recognizing innovative voices shaping the contemporary art landscape. In its inaugural edition, the prize is awarded to Venezuelan artist Luz Carabaño, whose practice redefines spatial and material boundaries through painting.

“Luz’s extraordinary talent and unique vision align perfectly with what we are striving to build, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the future.” – Memo Gonzalez

Carabaño, represented by Hannah Hoffman Gallery, Los Angeles, works with shaped canvases that blur the lines between painting and sculpture. Her ethereal compositions ripple with fluid gestures, appearing as portals to unseen spaces. Through meticulous surface treatments, she creates works that seem to hover between dimensions, questioning perception and materiality.

As the recipient of the Olivia Foundation Prize, Carabaño receives a commission to develop new work, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to supporting women artists and fostering abstraction as a dynamic and evolving language in contemporary art.

Presented in collaboration with Feria Material, the Olivia Foundation Prize aims to provide visibility and resources for artists pushing the boundaries of form and expression. Through this initiative, the foundation continues its mission to elevate and empower artistic practices on an international scale.
